COMMISSIONERS

Monthly commission meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month, and notices are posted at the courthouse, Port office and post office.

Loten Hooley, Secretary, Port of Tillamook Bay Commissioner Loten Hooley, President
Position 3, term expires June 30, 2011

Loten is a local contractor who grew up in Garibaldi. He attended Oregon State University and earned a B.S. degree in Finance in 1991. He served on the Netarts Oceanside Sanitary District Board of Directors and Tillamook County Landowners Association. Loten and his wife, Jennifer, have a son, Sam and a daughter, Olivia.

Steven Kershaw, Treasurer, Port of Tillamook Bay Commissioner Steven Kershaw, Vice President

Steven grew up in Los Angeles and relocated to Oregon to attend Oregon State University, completing a B.S. in Psychology ('77) and two years post graduate work in Counseling and Guidance. Steven worked for the State of Texas for five years as Director of the Wilderness Challenge Program and Fairfield Wilderness Camp. While there he learned to fly, earning his General Aviation, pilot 3rd class rating. He returned to Portland, Oregon in 1985 and pursued a career in Photography and Custom Picture Framing. Steven moved to Tillamook in 1987 to serve as Director of Camp Magruder, a United Methodist camp and retreat facility in Rockaway Beach. In 1991 he opened "Steven did it" Photo & Frame Works in downtown Tillamook. During his 16 years in business, he was a founding member of the resurrected Tillamook Downtown Association and served as vice president for many years. He was a founding member of the Cascade Picture Framers Guild (a trade & continuing education association) and served as president for nine years. Currently Steven is Chair of the Netarts Water Board, having served for the last eight years as a board member. Steven married Nancy Crossler of Salem, Oregon in 1981, and they have two children, Alyssa, a student at Philadelphia University, and Timothy, who attends Tillamook Adventist School.

Art Reidel, Past President, Port of Tillamook Bay Commissioners Art Riedel, Secretary
Position 1, Term expires June 30, 2011

Art is a native of Portland, Oregon. He is a graduate of Stanford University, with a degree in construction engineering. For 35 years, he owned Riedel International, Inc., a major international marine construction and dredging company, and Riedel Environmental Technologies, Inc. an international environmental remediation company. Art has served in many capacities in the City of Portland and in Oregon, having received numerous honor and awards. He is owner of Celtic Development, Inc., real estate and private investments. Art presently serves on the Multnomah County Sheriff's Advisory Commission, Port of Tillamook Bay Board of Commissioners (since 9/17/1997) and is the Honorary Consul Emeritus to the Netherlands. He and his wife, Janet, have three adult children and five grandchildren.

Jerry Dove, President, Port of Tillamook Bay Commissioners Jerry Dove, Treasurer
Position 2, term expires June 30, 2011

Jerry is a 1957 graduate from Parkrose High School and served 6 years in the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He was an automotive technician for 32 years and has been a Tillamook County resident since 1976. Three different Oregon Governors have appointed him to various boards and commissions. He has served on committees at both state and national levels dealing with economic development and natural resources. Jerry is president and found of Tillamook Anglers Association; a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of fish, and founder of the Whiskey Creek Volunteer Salmon Hatchery. Jerry served two terms as a Tillamook County Commissioner, from 1991 to 1998. He has also been a member of Tillamook Kiwanis, Past President of Tillamook Chamber of Commerce and has served 10 years on the Tillamook Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors. He has been on the Port of Tillamook Bay Board of Commissioners since 1999. Jerry has been married to his wife Johna for 38 years and has a daughter Kim, and one grandson, Chad.

Ken Bell, Vice President, Port of Tillamook Bay Commissioners Kenneth Bell, Past President
Position 5, term expires June 30, 2009

Ken graduated from Tillamook High School and then went on to serve two years in Germany for the U.S. Army, returning to Oregon State College for a year and a half. He worked in surveying for four years before entering into the printing business with Kenwood Press in 1961, working later with Coast Printing. Ken married his wife Barbara in 1959, and together in 1973 they began their own business, Bell's Office Machines. Ken's community service includes 12 years as a Tillamook Jaycee, 6 years on District Board of Directors, 15 years as a Fire Department Volunteer and 5 years as Assistant Chief, 8 years on Tillamook City Planning Commission, several years on Latimer Road Water Association Board of Directors, 15 years on Port of Tillamook Bay Board of Commissioners; along with membership in the Elks Lodge, Lions Club and Moose Lodge. Ken and his wife have a son, Rusty, married with one grandson, Kenny Bell; and a daughter Jody.




Jack Madison
In memory of Jack Madison who passed away 01/03/04. Jack served as a POTB Commissioner since 1989, held several offices and was re-elected for two succeeding terms. He was President and on the board of the Oregon Tillamook Railroad Authority and served in many capacities in the community and state. He was appointed by Governor McCall to serve on the Oregon State Soil and Water Conservation Commission. He served six years on the American Public Power Association Board of Directors as representative of Oregon City's People's Utility District Systems. He was elected to the board of School District #9. He is survived by 6 children and 9 grandchildren.
