PORT OF TILLAMOOK BAY INCENTIVES

So just why is it that a new or existing business should consider the Port of Tillamook Bay? The answers are endless

You already know that the Port offers large, attractive area for development, as well as numerous existing spaces that can be matched to your needs. The Port sponsors several financing options for new building construction through general obligation, industrial revenue, revenue bonds, or from a revolving fund.

The Port is fully serviced by local utilities. Water mains up to 8 inches, full sewer service, and 48-inch storm sewers are already installed on the site. Tillamook also boasts some of the nation's lowest commercial and industrial electrical rates. Several service voltage options are available from the Tillamook PUD. Complete telephone service is available from Sprint, and there is full cellular phone coverage also. Fiberoptic connectivity at 100 MHz and wireless at 20 MHz round out the package.

In addition, the Port is located within the Tillamook County Economic Development Council Enterprise Zone, and offers an attractive three year property tax exemption for new and expanding non-retail businesses. The only qualification is a minimum investment of $25,000, and the creation of permanent full-time jobs. Also, Port tenants within the designated airport zone are exempted from property tax.

The area boasts a highly trained workforce, with labor disputes being a rarity. Training is available through federal displaced worker programs, as well as nearby Tillamook County Community College.

To get your goods to the market place, the Port offers its own airport - the finest on the Oregon Coast - as well as frequent railroad service. The industrial park also offers convenient, quick access to local highways, with direct routes to the industrial centers in Portland and Salem, Oregon, and easy connections to markets beyond.

Perhaps the most important consideration is our quality of life. There are 4,400 people in the city of Tillamook, providing a core for a county-wide population that exceeds 25,000. Plenty of big-city amenities are available, including public and private schools, the Community College, a full service library, hospital and public transportation.

Recreational activities include beachcombing, bicycling, hiking, fishing, hunting and kayaking. There are also several recreational attractions within reach of the industrial park.

The area is also a major tourist stop, and with over 60 miles of coastline to explore in Tillamook County alone, it is no wonder. You may be surprised to find that tourism is only the third-largest industry in Tillamook, taking a back seat to the forestry and dairy industries, though the number of annual visitors is almost one million.

If all this isn't enough to convince you, give us a call, or better yet, stop by. We think you will agree that Tillamook is a great place to live, and the Port of Tillamook Bay is one of the best places on the planet to be in business.
