The airport grounds include 40
port-owned hangars for aircraft, a cardlock system for fueling, a tie-down area
for transient aircraft, leasable land available for private hangar
construction and land available for airport/industrial uses.
INDUSTRIAL
PARK
The Industrial Park covers
785 acres. Around 537 acres of that are dedicated to the airport. Over the years, the Port
has developed sites with a wide range of businesses. Many 10- to 20-acre sites as well as smaller 5-acre parcels
are available for new businesses.
The Port offers water and sewer service as a utility
provider. It also serves as the septage receiving station for
Tillamook County. The Industrial
Park also houses the Hooley Digester, which converts cow manure to marketable
products while generating power back to the electrical grid.
RECREATIONAL
VEHICLE PARK
The Port's RV Park
is located east of US Highway 101 and west of the airport.
The Park has 52 campsites with picnic tables, spaces for self-contained RVs, drinking water and restrooms.
RAILROAD
The Port owns extensive
rail rights of way varying in width from 50 to 200 feet. The rail
line is 101 miles in length, of which roughly 88 miles are main line and the
other 13 miles are spurs and sidings. The Port leases to Portland
& Western Railroad a 3.5 mile section from Banks to Hillsboro. The Port's facilities in Banks serve Banks Lumber, which has a mill and a pellet mill. And the Port continues to maintain its coastal track, which serves Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.
A storm in
December, 2007, severely damaged the POTB rail bed in the Salmonberry
River Canyon east of Wheeler and forced a shutdown of the port's
freight operations over the Coast Range.
