Septage Receiving Facility

The facility is located on the Port property approximately one mile southeast of the Port office. It was constructed on the site of an out-of-service water storage tank that has become the stabilization/holding tank for the septage receiving station.

The septage receiving tank is 107 feet in diameter and 12 feet deep. It is of buried concrete design and was constructed in the early 1940s as part of the water system for the Tillamook Naval Air Station. The tank had been out of service for many years. The concrete roof was removed, concrete columns that supported the roof were removed and the interior was coated with a chemical resistant epoxy. A 900 square-foot building was constructed to house the processing portion of the facility. It receives septage from five haulers.

Converting the tank to a septage receiving station was advantageous because there are few locations for disposal of septage collected in Tillamook County and building a completely new system would have been cost prohibitive.

The local companies that dump septage waste at the facility are:

  • City of Tillamook
  • T & L
  • Netarts/Oceanside Sanitary District
  • Sweet Septic
  • Roto Rooter
  • Teninty & Son
